South Brisbane, QLD is inner-city living at its most urban β South Bank, the river, the Gallery of Modern Art, and some of the most creative backyard spaces in the city. A compact plunge or courtyard fibreglass pool is the right answer for most of these yards, and fibreglass is perfectly suited to the fast installation and minimal disruption that a tightly built inner-city neighbourhood requires.
Brisbane City Council's inner-south approval requirements include heritage overlays in parts of West End, Highgate Hill and Woolloongabba, and character precinct rules that affect what's possible close to boundaries. We scope those constraints and council requirements before we quote β the number you receive reflects the actual project on your specific block.
Melbourne Street, Vulture Street and Boundary Street frame the inner-south grid, and the homes behind them β mostly traditional Queenslanders and post-war character housing β are where we do the creative work. Courtyard pools behind these terrace-style homes require careful excavation planning and often a crane lift over the roofline. Highgate Hill and West End have some of the most interesting backyard pool installs in Brisbane, and we've done a disproportionate number of them.
South Brisbane, West End, Highgate Hill, Woolloongabba, Dutton Park, Annerley, Fairfield, Yeronga, Tarragindi and Moorooka are all within our regular inner-south service area. Compact inner-city blocks are our speciality in this part of Brisbane.

The size you go with sets the base price — a courtyard plunge and an 11-metre lap pool sit at very different ends.
Sloping blocks, reactive soil and tight side access all add excavation and engineering. Many South Brisbane blocks have at least one of these factors.
Paving, coping, fencing and landscaping around the pool are where budgets stretch — we’ll scope it so there are no surprises.
A fibreglass pool is a big, satisfying addition — but a handful of local factors make the difference between a pool you love and a headache later. Here’s what we’d flag before you start.
South Brisbane's inner suburbs sit on alluvial flood-plain soils near the river, transitioning to harder ridgeline geology uphill toward Annerley and Tarragindi. Flood mapping is a real consideration for lower-lying inner-south blocks, and it's worth understanding your overlay before committing to excavation.
Position matters more than most people expect: sun through the day, the prevailing wind, the view from inside, how close it is to the house, and access for the dig. Get it right and you’ll swim more and spend less heating it.
Every pool in Queensland needs compliant safety fencing and council sign-off before it can be used. Worth knowing the rules early so they’re built into the plan, not a last-minute scramble. We’ll walk you through what Brisbane City Council requires.
Fibreglass is the low-fuss option — the smooth surface resists algae, so it’s fewer chemicals and less scrubbing than concrete. A quick weekly check is about it. Running costs come down to the pump, heating, and how you cover it.
Our pools are made here in Australia, not shipped in flat-packed — a stronger shell and a colour range that holds up to the Queensland sun.
We work South Brisbane and the surrounding suburbs every week as your local swimming pool contractors. We know the soils, the councils and the access headaches before we turn up.
The number we give you is the number. No vague “from” pricing that balloons once the digger arrives.
Clay, slope, tight access — the jobs other mobs talk themselves out of are the ones we’re happy to quote.
One swimming pool contractor from excavation to handover. You’re not left chasing three different subbies to find out who’s coming back.
A fibreglass shell flexes with reactive ground instead of cracking. It’s the right pool for a South Brisbane backyard, plain and simple.
South East Queensland gives you one of the longest swim seasons in the country. From the first warm week in spring right through to autumn, a fibreglass pool is good to go — and a smooth shell with a decent cover means less chasing leaves and chemicals through the cooler months.
Brisbane's subtropical climate means a reliable swim season from September to May, and the urban heat effect around South Brisbane keeps the water warm well into autumn. We install across inner-south Brisbane β West End, Highgate Hill, Woolloongabba, Dutton Park, Annerley, Fairfield, Yeronga, Tarragindi and the surrounding suburbs.
We install pools across the wider region. If you’re in a suburb neighbouring South Brisbane, we’re likely already in your area.
We cover South Brisbane and the surrounding South East Queensland suburbs. A few of the areas we work in regularly:
Inner riverside living with compact lots and a vibrant urban backdrop.
Character homes, courtyards and creative outdoor spaces.
Inner south-east with renovating homes and good block potential.
Family suburbs further south with generous older blocks.
River-adjacent southern suburbs with a quiet, established feel.
Ridge and flat suburbs with good block variety and family homes.
Larger lots on the southern fringe, popular with renovators.
Southern Brisbane with a mix of families and well-sized blocks.
In South Brisbane and the inner-south suburbs, a fully installed fibreglass pool typically costs between $50,000 and $95,000 β shell, excavation, concrete surrounds, fencing, safety certification and Brisbane City Council approval included. Inner-city blocks with limited access, heritage overlay considerations or complex excavation requirements sit at the upper end. Compact courtyard plunge pools can come in below that range. We provide a full scope quote after a site visit.
Most fibreglass pool installs in South Brisbane, QLD take two to four weeks from excavation to water in, depending on the site and the surrounds. The shell itself goes in fast — it’s the excavation, fencing, paving and landscaping that set the overall timeline. We’ll give you a realistic schedule up front.
South Brisbane's inner suburbs sit on alluvial flood-plain soils near the river, transitioning to harder ridgeline geology uphill toward Annerley and Tarragindi. Flood mapping is a real consideration for lower-lying inner-south blocks, and some properties require specific engineering to account for flood risk. In the higher suburbs like Highgate Hill and West End, the soils are more workable but access and existing structures add excavation complexity. We assess each site before quoting.
In the inner-south, fibreglass wins on installation speed and site disruption grounds β a fibreglass shell is craned in and installed in 2β3 weeks, while concrete requires weeks of wet trades and continuous truck access that's difficult in these tightly built streets. The smooth gelcoat is also easier to maintain on a small urban pool. Concrete suits very large or custom-shaped pools. For the typical South Brisbane or West End plunge pool build, fibreglass is the right choice.
Brisbane City Council requires a development permit for all in-ground pools, plus a pool safety certificate and compliant fencing before use. Heritage precincts and character overlays in West End, Highgate Hill and parts of Woolloongabba have additional design requirements. Flood overlays in lower-lying areas may also affect the approval process. We scope all relevant constraints before preparing your quote and manage the full approval process as part of the build.
Fibreglass pools are among the easiest to look after. The smooth gelcoat surface resists algae, so you use fewer chemicals and spend less time scrubbing than you would with a concrete or vinyl pool. A quick weekly check on water balance and the odd skim is about the size of it.
